Central California Educational Technology Consortium Selects PowerMediaPlus.com (October 5, 2005)
Interface Becomes the Media-on-Demand Vehicle for an Initial Membership of 700,000 Students with Eventual Statewide Expansion
Chicago, IL (October 5, 2005)—The Central California Educational Technology Consortium (CCETC) has chosen PowerMediaPlus.com as the media-on-demand interface and video delivery platform for its thirteen-county service area, which currently reaches from Los Angeles County in the south through Tuolumne County in the north. After a thorough review process, the consortium chose the streaming media system from CLEARVUE & SVE as the solution that could best meet the needs of their California consortium and support statewide expansion into the future. John Magneson, CCETC President-Elect from Merced County Office of Education remarked, "CCETC is excited about our new collaboration with CLEARVUE & SVE, which will give our consortium the opportunity to provide California educators with access to a wide variety of high quality digital learning resources through a state-of-the-art Internet-based multimedia delivery system."
"PowerMediaPlus.com met the key features we identified as required components for a successful media delivery system in California," said Julie Drake, Consultant-in-Charge from the Los Angeles County Office of Education's Multimedia Services and CCETC member. "The system accommodates different media types, is configured to take advantage of both locally hosted and Internet-based delivery, and its administrative and server management software will allow for the flexibility we need to meet the needs of our diverse group." One of CCETC's main goals is to host content that they locally produce and license; while they grow their own content collection over time, members look forward to using the award-winning collection of existing content from PowerMediaPlus.com.
To assist in meeting CCETC's goal of developing their own content collection, CLEARVUE & SVE will begin by establishing a practical yet scalable hardware configuration in California. The PowerMediaPlus.com interface will then be customized and preloaded with content already owned or licensed and digitized by CCETC. Additional content will be sourced through CCETC, counties, and districts to create specific media packages that best serve the needs of individual schools and districts.
"CCETC's selection further validates the acceptance of PowerMediaPlus.com as the next generation in educational media-on-demand," said Mark Ventling, President of CLEARVUE & SVE. "We recognize that a prepackaged solution does not work for everyone, and we pride ourselves at adapting our system to offer each school, district, county, and state a superior, customized solution."
About CCETC
The Central California Educational Technology Consortium (CCETC) represents county offices of education within California. The consortium began in 1981 and is comprised of counties of varying sizes joined by a Joint Powers Agreement with the goal of acquiring media and technology for its members at the best pricing available. Media purchased by the consortium must align with the California Content Standards and be of the highest quality in a variety of formats. The consortium has thirteen California counties as members and currently represents a student population of 700,000 students. Members of the CCETC meet at least six times a year to share expertise and set common goals, and to evaluate, preview, and purchase or license multimedia.
